Record your voice or an instrument

Add a microphone track alongside your gesture-played parts.

Use headphones so your backing track doesn't leak into the microphone.

What you'll learn

  • Record the mic while the session plays
  • See the take land at the right spot
  • Mix and filter the new track

The steps

Read them here, or press Play along and the studio will walk you through them.

  1. Start your backing track

Open the Session tab and press Play session so you can hear what you're recording over. No tracks yet? That's fine — you can record without one.

  2. Press Record mic

Press Record mic and allow microphone access when your browser asks. Recording starts immediately.

  3. Perform, then Stop

Sing, speak or play, then press Stop. If the session was playing, your take is placed exactly where you started recording.

  4. Find your take

A blue AUDIO track named Recording appears in the Layers strip. Lower its gain if it's loud, or switch on LP to darken it with the lowpass filter.
