Record your first loop

Capture a chord progression and play it back.

What you'll learn

  • Record with a count-in
  • Name and save a loop
  • Play it back
  • Jam over your own loop

The steps

Read them here, or press Play along and the studio will walk you through them.

  1. Press Record

Open the Loops tab and press Record. You'll get a three-beat count-in, so you have time to get your hands ready.

Leave the Clicker on — the metronome keeps you in time and snaps your loop to the grid.

  2. Play 2–4 bars

With the camera: Play a short progression with your hands — try I, V, IV, I. Keep going for two to four bars.

Without a camera: Click through a short progression — try I, V, IV, I. Keep going for two to four bars.

  3. Press Stop

Press the Record button again to stop. Your take is quantised to the beat grid automatically.

  4. Name your loop

Type a name (or keep the suggestion) and press Enter or Save. It's stored in this tab's loop library.

  5. Play it back

Press Play loop. Your recording plays on its own voice, so you can play new chords over the top.
