Add a drum beat

Load a pattern, tweak it, and add it to your track.

What you'll learn

  • Open the drum pattern editor
  • Load a preset
  • Add the beat to your session
  • Hear it loop

The steps

Read them here, or press Play along and the studio will walk you through them.

  1. Open the pattern editor and load a preset

Open the Drums tab, press Edit pattern, then choose Four on the floor from the Load… menu.

  2. Make it yours

Click squares in the grid to switch hits on or off — kick, snare, hats, claps and more. Press Audition to hear it as you edit.

Each row is one drum sound; each column is a sixteenth note.

  3. Add it to your session

Press Done, open the Session tab and press + Add drum pattern. It becomes a drum track in your arrangement.

  4. Hear it loop

Press Play session. Every track in your session plays together, locked to one clock.
